    Diane Pye

    Diane Pye has worked as a teacher, curriculum leader, headteacher, inspector, trainer and speaker. She is an expert in curriculum design. Diane inspects for Ofsted, worked with the curriculum unit and contributed to the HMI subject reports in 2023 and 2024.

    Diane is well known as an inspirational and motivational trainer and speaker who brings informed clarity and simplicity to curriculum thinking. Diane works with all phases from early years through to secondary. She has a proven track record in school improvement, which has been recognised in school performance and inspection outcomes. In recent years, Diane’s training has won several national awards.

    Diane is passionate about top-quality curriculum design that inspires pupils and teachers alike. She has an excellent knowledge of current accountability measures and the rationale and research that sit behind the renewed inspection framework 2025.

    Until 2020, Diane was the headteacher of a primary school in Shropshire, which she led to outstanding judgements in both Ofsted and SIAMS inspections.

    In 2010, Diane wrote a successful children’s book. She has visited schools as an author and been involved in projects to raise reading standards in primary schools.

Informed by the HMI research review, subject report and current curriculum thinking, this evidence-based session about geography covers:

  • supporting pupils to know and remember the right things
  • what to check and how to do it in manageable and effective ways
  • making everyday assessment simple
  • practical ideas for classroom and whole-school practice
  • using assessment to revise and embed the knowledge that pupils need for future learning
  • meaningful record-keeping
  • keeping workload manageable.
