History: Linking Together the Histories We Teach
Focus: Curriculum
For: History leads, class teachers with a passion for history, new history leaders for next year
Description:
During this session, Stuart will focus on how the units taught in primary history can be connected cohesively through:
- Careful sequencing which enables children to think narratively across units, year groups and phases.
- Understanding how their existing knowledge-base can be built upon by exploring new examples which reinforce a similar aspect of the past conceptually.
Alongside this, Stuart will promote the importance of challenging children who show a strong understanding of the past.
Director’s Note:
A really great session for your history leaders. Sequencing is a key skill for historians and linking learning from year group to year group is central to what history leads do. Food for thought for your history leads.
