Managing Challenging Conversations with Parents

Focus: Catholic Life
For: Experienced class teachers, ECTs, HLTAs, office staff

Description:

Parents are under stress too!  And that can mean that sometimes their behaviours towards us are challenging.  It’s not ok for parents to get angry and cause conflict. But when that happens, we all need to know how to be prepared.

We all know that outcomes for children are better when home and school can work together. Here we explore why challenging situations can arise when dealing with parents and carers, along with practical strategies to help these tricky conversations run more smoothly.

Director’s Note:

School staff are having to deal with challenging conversations daily: help them to manage these situations by up-skilling them.
