Bereavement Guidance and Support for SLT

Focus: Catholic Life
For: Headteachers, senior leadership team

Description:

Bereavement and Loss training and what to do ‘When Somebody Dies’.

Rainbows is committed to helping children and young people grieve and grow after loss.

In the recently published report by the UK commission on Bereavement, they found that ‘talking about and acknowledging a bereavement – was important for bereaved children and young people, so they felt less alone. The Commission also heard that supporting bereaved children and young people while they were at school was really important’. The report can be found here.

This brief Bereavement and Loss training will help attendees to understand the impact grief has on children and young people and what schools can do to support those experiencing significant loss.

Attendees will also find out what to do ‘When Somebody Dies’ in their community, offering a practical user friendly resource to support schools to respond appropriately and to affirm and advise in their on-going work with those who grieve.

Director’s Note:

Information on this session was shared with me at a national meeting of Catholic leaders. The headteachers couldn’t recommend it enough… so it’s in.
