Governor Training: Approving School Policies

Focus: Leadership and Management
For: Governors

Description:

As Governors, we are asked to ‘approve the policy’. What does that actually mean? What are we meant to ask? What’s appropriate challenge? Answers to this and more in this session.

Approving school policies is not the highest priority activity in most governing body meeting agendas. It is important though that all governors understand that there are times when policies should be approved without much discussion and times when they should be rigorously vetted before a decision is made to approve them.

Roland will run through how you should prepare for the policy approval process, the questions you should ask and just how far you should go to make sure your policies are relevant and effective.

Director’s Note:

Governors – sign up!  Roland is Ace!
