Description:

Better Governors is designed to support you as you develop in the role of a school governor. The programme will explore the role of Governors and how Governor Bodies can have the biggest impact on continual school improvement.

Session 1: Core functions

Issues explored:

  • Introduction… the purpose and principles of school governance.
  • Understanding the ‘why’ of school governance.
  • 3 Key elements for successful school governance… considering principles for highly effective individual and collective governance.
  • Considering the ‘true self’. How do I/we measure up?
  • Being successful – a set of essential professional skills and behaviours.
