As part of the Stone King legal team Surinder provides faith-based based employment law expertise, advising many Christian foundations, including those from Catholic, Church of England, Methodist and Quaker traditions.
Stone King LLP also advise a broad range of other faith-based schools, including those with Jewish, Islamic and Sikh foundations. Most importantly we recognise the need to provide advice that is sympathetic to the particular religious context and ethos, including especially the interplay of Civil Law with relevant religious rules. We act for a large number of Religious Orders and Dioceses as well as Catholic MATs. We are closely aware of the context of Canon Law and indeed history and the significance of Catholic Schools to the Catholic Church’s wider mission.
Surinder is regularly instructed on complex employment matters including disciplinary and safeguarding matters and EFSA investigations. She also has extensive experience in dealing with Employment Tribunal litigation representing Respondent’s only and is a keen advocate of proactive learning and regular conducts seminars and workshops and set up the ACAS Education Forum Birmingham and East Midlands, for in-house School and College HR teams and works closely with ACAS. Surinder also set up and leads the BAME Headteachers and Senior leaders Forum.
In addition, Surinder is a Panel Member of the Teaching Regulation Agency and regularly sits on teacher misconduct hearings.
