Maths for Teaching Assistants (6 of 6)
Focus: Curriculum
For: Teaching assistants
Description:
Each module will be delivered as a stand-alone session and so schools can tailor the CPDF to meet the individual requirements of their staff.
Module 6 – Alegbra for the totally terrified
Although Algebra is only explicitly mentioned in the Year 6 programme of study there are elements of algebraic thinking in all the year groups e.g., missing number problems in Year 1. This module will explore the barriers and common errors children may encounter and pedagogical approaches to address these.
Consideration will be given to the development of children’s understanding of algebraic ideas as central to mathematical thinking and the ‘pre-skills’ that lay the foundations for algebra.
Multiple Sessions:
This is a six session programme. All six sessions must be attended.
